A Full Lineup of Color Materials and Advanced Materials Solutions on Display
PARSIPPANY, N.J., USA – February 25, 2025 – During the European Coatings Show in Nuremberg, Germany, Sun Chemical will launch two new effect pigments alongside its full range of high performing color stylings and showcase new innovative polymers, resins and packaging film treatments for the coatings industry.
Color Innovations, Styling Trends and Digital Tools
Showcasing its latest product developments at booth 3C-448, Sun Chemical will present color solutions and trend stylings for motorcycle coatings, as well as new digital pigment tools and extended supply for perylene pigments.
“We are delighted to be exhibiting at this year’s European Coatings Show,” said Brian Panczyk, President of Color Materials, Sun Chemical. “The show offers a chance to highlight our newest colorful solutions and demonstrate how they can help customers deliver high performing coatings in vibrant, innovative shades.”
Also on display will be the newly launched 2-Wheeler Styling Show for motorcycle coatings, showcasing the extended possibilities of color space expansion with pigment innovations. Presented with the three themes Extreme Ambition, Ultimate Lifestyle and True Commitment, these latest color enhancements offer added value for motorcycle aesthetics.
Visitors of Sun Chemical’s booth will get a first look at Paliocrom Premium Orange L 2900, the newest effect pigment from the highly successful Paliocrom brand family, which are recognized for their maximum chroma and brilliant metallic effects for golden-to-red premium colors.
Sun Chemical will present Lumina HD Exterior Sienna S3903V, the next grade in the Lumina high definition mica effects line. Based on fine synthetic mica with the highest performance properties, the Lumina HD line enables exceptional chroma, enhanced distinctness of image and subtle sparkle.
The Pigment Finder digital app grants exclusive access to a growing database of Product Carbon Footprint Statements, as well as other updated digital features including a new document alert function.
Signaling a strong commitment to high performance perylene supply, Sun Chemical has made significant efforts to ensure a reliable output for this class of pigments. To meet high demand, bottlenecks at various stages of the production process have been resolved and capital injections and the implementation of systematic data analysis have successfully stabilized the material flow and increased output. In addition, continuous capital investments have been directed towards elevating the existing asset footprint and enabling Sun Chemical to meet the markets’ needs now and in the future.
Innovative Advanced Materials for Coating Applications
Sun Chemical’s Advanced Materials division will present its latest product innovations at the show, including several new solutions for coatings, polymers and packaging film treatment.
“The European Coatings Show gives us the opportunity to showcase Sun Chemical’s transformative polymer solutions that help meet the needs of our global customers,” said Mehran Yazdani, President of Advanced Materials, Sun Chemical. “We look forward to showing how these solutions can accomplish customer goals to achieve high performance and sustainability.”
Advanced materials solutions on display will include:
- WATERSOL AC: This line of water-based emulsions and dispersions meets the high standards of the automotive industry and is suitable for primer, basecoat, topcoat and single-layer applications.
- BLUEPUR: These water-based polyurethane dispersions exhibit high film hardness, flexibility and adhesion on a variety of substrates, from wood and plastic coatings to flexo and gravure laminating inks for packaging films.
- HYDRAN: This line of innovative, water-based polyurethane dispersions has diverse applications including plastic film coating and artificial leather. The HYDRAN GP line is a range of sustainable polyurethane dispersions (PUD) that contains no amines, helping users to shorten process times, lessen odors, and reduce VOCs. The line’s high resin concentration and low water content can help achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions when compared to solvent-based polyurethane resins.
- HYDRORENE: Sun Chemical’s family of low monomer, hydro-dispersible polyisocyanates is used to enhance waterborne film performance.
- POLURGREEN BT: This PDI aliphatic trimer product line delivers quality performance solutions for green building and other applications and is low monomer and VOC-free.
- POLYASPARTIC SYSTEMS: Based on aminofunctional resins and aliphatic crosslinkers, these systems are low viscosity, low monomer materials with fast curing properties even at low temperatures that deliver excellent lightfastness resistance.
- CERANATE: Suitable for topcoat coating applications, this unique polysiloxane-acrylic hybrid resin comes with high technical performance, extreme durability, superior weatherability and low maintenance costs. It can also be a technical alternative technology to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
