Sun Chemical Celebrates Double Victory at the Flexographic Industry Association Awards 2024
SOUTH NORMANTON, UK – July 11, 2024 – Sun Chemical is proud to announce two Flexographic Industry Association (FIA) Award wins. Sun Chemical received the «Technical Innovation of the Year» award for its groundbreaking SunVisto AquaHeat inks highlighting Sun Chemical’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the printing industry.
The SunVisto AquaHeat inks represent a significant advancement in the field of high-temperature, ovenable applications. These water-based flexographic inks are designed for use in industrial ovens, withstanding temperatures up to 220°C for 120 minutes and are compliant with stringent European food safety regulations. Notably, AquaHeat inks have over 60% biobased raw materials, offering an eco-friendly solution without compromising on performance or colour vibrancy. This innovative product allows for high-quality printing on various substrates, including plastic films and papers, ensuring safety and durability for food packaging applications. Additionally, the inks boast a wide colour gamut, providing vibrant and stable colours even under extreme heat conditions, making them a versatile and reliable choice for manufacturers
Eric Dejean, Product Manager, Water based Products, Europe, Sun Chemical, comments, “Winning this award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team at Sun Chemical. AquaHeat inks are not only a technical achievement but also a step forward in our sustainability journey. We are proud to provide a product that meets the rigorous demands of food packaging and supports our customers’ environmental goals.”
In addition to this remarkable achievement, Sun Chemical celebrated another milestone at the FIA Awards 2024. Ian Low, a stalwart in the print industry and a veteran of Sun Chemical, was honoured with the «Outstanding Contribution to the Industry» award. Ian’s career, spanning four decades, has been marked by his relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence in flexographic printing. His contributions have been instrumental in advancing the technology and establishing flexo as a dominant process in flexible packaging.
Nick Crandon, Technical Director of Sun Chemical UK and Nordic, praised Ian’s achievements, “Ian Low has always been very passionate about our customers, their processes, and their challenges. With the in-depth knowledge gained by spending time close to and sometimes literally on/in the press, he has been able to guide the formulators in Sun Chemical to provide fact based winning solutions for our customers, many times. Many successes and lessons learned over the decades, Ian’s passion for the process remains undiminished. He continues to pursue perfection with unwavering tenacity. His commitment to our industry is truly remarkable. This award is a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions and leadership.”
