SUN CHEMICAL SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH FOGRA AT DRUPA
DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY- June 10, 2008 - Sun Chemical has signed a partnership contract with Fogra, the graphic technology research association based in Munich, Germany, to contribute to the association’s activities in the certification of offset print shops according to Process Standard Offset (PSO).
The contract, signed at drupa 2008, outlines Sun Chemical’s role in the partnership, which includes assisting print shops to meet the demands of the international print standard ISO 12647-2. This standard is applied when preparing colour separations for four-colour offset printing or when producing four-colour prints by heatset web, sheetfed or continuous forms process printing. Both parties agreed to cooperate worldwide except in German-speaking countries, where Fogra has existing arrangements in place.
Meeting the ISO 12647-2 standard enables printers to streamline their internal workflow and produce prints of the highest offset standards. Dr Eduard Neufeld, managing director, Fogra, said: “We expect our PSO activities to take a significant step forward over the coming months. Fogra cooperates with companies in order to promote the worldwide use of ISO 12647. Sun Chemical has a wealth of experience and expertise in offset printing from all over the world which will bring considerable benefit to our activities.”
Felipe Mellado, corporate vice president and group managing director for Sun Chemical Europe, added: “We are proud to enter a partnership with Fogra, one of the leading research organisations in the graphic arts industry, and look forward to adding value to this important project. This is another important step forward for Sun Chemical, which is working with a growing number of companies and organisations on initiatives, services and products that benefit our customers.”
