Sun Chemical Announces Consumables Deal with The Guardian
London, UK
- July 19, 2007 -- The Guardian Print Centre has signed a contract with Sun Chemical to supply all its pressroom consumables in addition to its long-standing ink supply agreement. The new deal includes the provision of Denios spill control management systems, which help printers reduce waste and cut costs, while promoting a safer working environment.
Brett Lawrence, general manager of The Guardian's Print Centre, said: "There are a number of advantages that can be achieved by consolidating suppliers. In this case, we are happy with the products and the service we receive from Sun Chemical and we are confident there are a number of quality and efficiency benefits we will achieve if Sun also supplies our consumables."
Pressroom consumables customers such as The Guardian can benefit from Sun Chemical's online ordering system - www.sunconsumables.com, from which they can order a full range of consumable products from a single source supplier, guaranteeing best-in-class products that have been selected for their excellent compatibility with Sun Chemical's inks and coatings.
Sun Chemical had a strong presence at Newstec 2007, where it showcased a broad range of products and services with its key partners. At the event, the company also reinforced its long-term commitment to the newspaper industry with a number of innovative products and customised services designed to add value to the sector.
The company gave a series of presentations and seminars, in association with PrintCity, promoting the results of the Value Added Printing of Newspapers (VAPoN) study. It also exhibited its new-generation range of inks that are designed to deliver a variety of demanding print jobs. Polar Advantage™, VegiWeb™, Shark™ and Granit™ form part of the company's Coldset Matrix™, which also includes a series of first-class support services to help newspaper printers maximise productivity and efficiency.
Peter Hepworth, general manager of Sun Chemical UK's News Division said: "We are delighted The Guardian has taken advantage of our prime position in the industry to supply a one-stop service for inks and consumables. No financial details are being revealed, but this is the largest order for pressroom materials since the formation of our UK Consumables Division in January. The intense level of activity recently undertaken by Sun Chemical in the newspaper industry clearly demonstrates our dedication to newspaper printing. We have used our expertise in this field to enhance the value we offer the sector, through a mix of product innovation, service and support.
"Newstec provided an excellent opportunity for us to listen to the future needs of our customers in order to develop appropriate solutions."
Underpinning Sun Chemical's efforts in this sector has been the considerable progress made on the VAPoN project, in alliance with the PrintCity partners. This project sets out to evaluate how newspaper printers and publishers can increase their revenues through technological, service and creative means. The findings are now being revealed to printers and publishers in a number of free seminars and events around the globe. Further details of the project are available at www.printcity.de.
