Sun Chemical Performance Pigments Announces Price Increase

Cincinnati, OH - April 16, 2007 -- Sun Chemical Corporation’s Performance Pigments Division, an industry leader in organic pigments and pigment preparations, announced the following price increases today:

  • Dry and Presscake pigments as follows: Azo Reds by $0.30/lb., Azo Yellows by $0.15/lb and Violet-23 by $0.50/lb. Prices for dispersion and flush products will increase accordingly.
  • Blue 15:2 Tetra Chlor Blues by $0.15/lb.
  • Cosmetic Colors by anywhere from $0.05 - $0.30/lb. depending on the pigment type.

The decision to raise prices is attributed to the markets’ escalating costs for building block chemicals and raw materials essential to the production of preparations. Despite increasing costs, Performance Pigments will continue to drive innovation through customization, the production of high-quality pigments and exceptional service.

"While Performance Pigments continues to make energy efficient and quality maximizing manufacturing changes, the need remains to offset rising costs through price increases," added Brian Leen, vice president and general manager for Performance Pigments.
