Sun Chemical Puts Stronger Emphasis on Commercial Sector in UK

- March 29, 2007 -- Sun Chemical has introduced a new and improved commercial sector to give added customer service focus to its growing businesses within the UK.
A stronger emphasis has been put on the commercial sector by refocusing sales with an expanded, dedicated sales and technical services team. This incorporates the sheetfed commercial and heatset businesses. All changes are meeting specific market-focused needs in an ever-changing marketplace.
This realignment follows Sun Chemical acquiring UK packaging-focused companies, introducing new product lines and investing in new printing ink customer service centres in Derbyshire and in Berkshire.
The decision to further strengthen the commercial sector was made after careful analysis market needs. These included the fact that sheetfed commercial is a business dynamic that is more reactive to the needs of small customers where rapid response and delivery are important requirements. On the other hand, heatset services have a few, large, long-term accounts.
Peter Elliott, who heads up Sun Chemical UK's commercial business including sheetfed and heatset, said: "The expanded, dedicated sales and technical services team, coupled with the investment in our service centres and new product lines, has given us a firm footing to grow our business that is dedicated on our commercial customers in an ever-changing marketplace."

Last September, Sun Chemical announced the acquisition of UK graphic arts specialist Watt Gilchrist, headquartered in Leeds, and packaging design and brand development firm Parker Williams Design, based in London. At the same time it opened the UK's most modern and automated supply location for sheetfed and UV inks, varnish and consumables by redeveloping and modernising its South Normanton, Derbyshire, National Distribution and Customer Service Centre in a £1.8million expansion. Upgrading work has also been completed at Slough, Berkshire.
New product lines have included Sun Chemical's EOS™ High Speed four-colour, sheetfed offset process inks and developing new low migration inks under the IROCART and SUNCURE branding for the sheetfed offset market.
